Travel Challenge: Packing 7 Days Worth of Stuff into a Carry On and Personal Item

I had quite the challenge the other night. For my Tour de West Coast (which I’m currently on), I’m hitting 4 airports in 7 days. Since I’m traveling, attending two conferences, and taking a couple of days off, I’m going to need a range of clothing options to choose from.

Checking a bag wasn’t really an option for this trip. There isn’t a lot of turnaround time between my flights, as I’m quickly jumping from JFK to PHX to LAS to SAN.

If something were to happen to my bags, I would be screwed.

Upcoming Travel Preview: Philadelphia Bar Party and Tour de West Coast

The next week is going to be quite a doozy, dear readers.

As life may have it, I’m going to be hitting 6 states in the next week and a half (counting NY and NJ, which I hit every day anyways).

My travels begin with a stint in Philadelphia, where I’m meeting up with friends to celebrate one of my friends passing the bar last week. As most of our reunions go, it should be quite fun and, as usual, packed with surprises.

After we have celebrated to our hearts’ content, I’ll make my way back to NJ for the night in order to rest up for the part of my travels that I’m perhaps most excited about: Tour de West Coast.

Learning When You Are No Longer In School

I graduated from grad school almost 1.5 years ago.

I was one of those people who went straight from undergrad to grad school without taking a break. I loved school! I very much enjoyed being fed assignments and due dates and specific things to focus on.

As nerdy as it is, the day we received our syllabi each semester was probably the most exciting day of the semester for me. I could plan! I could color code my planner! I could start learning!

From the Internets: October 13th

Happy weekend, everyone!

I don’t know about your location, but it sure is getting brisk up in here. Unfortunately, I’m not surrounded by the beautiful fall leaves that are in the above photo.

Sometimes it seems like it’s just asphalt when you live in a city.

My scouring of the internets has resulted in a few good articles from this week or previous weeks. Check them out:

10 Tips For Maximizing the 24 Hours In Your Day

Confession: for the past week, I have not been effectively managing my time or finishing everything that I want to get done. In fact, I’m going to be roughly a half hour late posting this post.

This post was originally supposed to be about how I fit everything in that I want to do even though I have a day job. As I sat down to read that post topic in my editorial calendar, I couldn’t help but laugh and feel ashamed. In general, I’m able to get a lot done, but in the past few weeks, I feel like I haven’t been as on top of things as I generally am.

To help motivate myself, and to hopefully motivate you, I’ve put together 10 tips for maximizing the 24 hours in your day.

4 Approaches to Solving the Student Loan Debt Problem in the United States

Student loans. It seems like you can’t get through the day without hearing about them lately. Or maybe I just feel that way since I’ve been working on an app design to help solve this massive problem. Whether or not the topic of student loans has been on your radar, it’s hard to ignore the glaring (and scary) statistics that have been coming out recently.

Student loan debt in the United States has surpassed $1 trillion. That’s nine zeros! Student loan debt is a bigger source of debt that credit card debt and car loan debt in the United States.

MyMoneyAppUp Challenge Recap: I Won the Grand Prize!

It’s been quite the exciting week for me. I told you about the MyMoneyAppUp Challenge last Wednesday. Thursday I traveled to DC to attend some preliminary events for the awards ceremony. Then the awards ceremony itself was held on Friday morning. Believe it or not, I won the Grand Prize! It was an unbelievable experience and I’m so honored that I had the opportunity to present my app design as a finalist.

Here are the exciting highlights from the event:
